Beautiful Birthday Girl Erin Berzel

This is one of my favorite up-dos. I just love blonde hair for the dimension and contrast it provides to a style with braiding or curls. She wanted something relaxed but intricate- it's all her own hair, believe it or not! It was originally a half-up style, but she pinned it up as the evening progressed.

Happy Friday, my darlings! Another shift in seasons is upon us. Are you looking forward to it? Leaves, coats, umbrellas + rain! One thing none of us are looking forward to is the dry scalp that often comes with a new season. I’m about to tell you something a little weird, but bear with me… Someone recently came into my studio and asked if I’d heard of Listerine curing dry scalp + flakes. How can you not find that comical?? After a laugh and a weird face, it dawned on me- Listerine is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and it actually makes sense. Googled it like crazy and found all kinds of people who love this remedy and highly recommend it! Decided to give it a go. Tried it on myself and had one other person try it as well. SHOCKINGLY, it worked.

I mixed

  • 1/2 oz of original formula Listerine
  • 1/2 oz of baby oil (to soothe and soften)

I shook it up in a bottle and used cotton balls to apply. (Tip your head back a little as you apply to be sure nothing gets on your face.) I left it for 5-10 minutes and then shampooed it out. I only did it for 3 days in a row but I’ve been reading that it can take up to one week. Honestly, not a flake on my scalp. I love that after 15 years of doing hair I can still be baffled by home remedies. If you do this at home please email, tweet or facebook us and let us know how it goes!

Xx Kristin

**if you have psoriasis or sensitive skin/scalp, talk to your dermatologist first!

Bridal Work

Some quick photos of a few of my favorite brides

My best friend's girlfriend(s)...
The wedding of Maile and Kyle

In this wedding, the entire bridal party had their hair done at Paul Mitchell, but I did the makeup on every pretty lady in her party!

Melissa + Larry = Melarry? Marry!

These wedding photos were done by one of my favorite people, The incredibly talented
Erin Berzel

Melissa wanted a very clean, natural look- her hair was styled using her natural curl pattern

Her adorable niece- natural makeup and big fun hair

Jordan + Laura = LOVE

I was so happy to be a part of their beautiful wedding- Laura is one of my sisters from another mother

Look Book

I have yet to see a perfect recreation of Audrey's hair- I plan to give it a go as soon as I find a model!

Don't you just love the lines in this perfect ponytail? The cheek and shadow colors are perfect for any season, as well- the yellow undertones in both remind me of fall and spring.

The shoes! The hair! The makeup and patterns!!

Sooo soft and sexy! The mauve bronze colors create depth and add warmth to an almost classic pin-up look

Last, but certainly not least! If you don't love Drew Barrymore, we can't be friends.
I shy away from center parts too often, but I really like the natural part line in the front with the sexy volume through the crown for this look.

Muse Music

Yesterday was the kind of day that forces self reflection. Today is the day I hope to take a few lessons and immerse myself in creating the life I want to see. The lyrics of this song don't necessarily apply, but it sounds good right now!

Kayla

Kayla has the most amazing long, healthy hair I have ever seen. She looks great with warm reds- as you can see above, she was due for a color refresher. We chose PM Shines, as she wanted a deposit-only color that wouldn't damage her hair and would add shine and a smooth, glassy texture. We did two different shades- a lighter color on the top half and darker on the bottom. PM Shines are great. They are transparent color that allows the natural highlights in hair to show through. Kayla's hair has brightened up significantly in the last two weeks- about 3-5 shampoos, but has remained a true rich red. I trimmed Kayla's bangs as well- added a little more fringe in the front and shaped it around her face with some longer pieces on the sides.
